We work diligently to prevent the spread of infections such as influenza and COVID-19 by following rigorous infection prevention and control practices.
These practices include:
- Screening of patients for new symptoms such as cough, diarrhea, or skin rash
- Use of personal protective equipment including mask, gown, gloves, and/or eye protection based on your care needs
- Practicing hand hygiene at arrival, before and after caring for patient and when leaving

Q: What is Spectrum Health Care doing to keep me safe?
A: The safety of our patients, their families and our staff is our number one priority. Spectrum follows all guidance from Public Health Ontario as it relates to the management of COVID-19 and other infections. Before each home visit, our staff will ask you questions about respiratory and other symptoms. This ensures that they are prepared to provide the best possible care for the client’s unique needs. All employees practice rigorous hand hygiene, wear Personal Protective Equipment which may include mask, gloves, gown and safety glasses and screening patients before each visit.
Q: What should members of my household do when Spectrum staff are providing service?
A: We ask that while Spectrum staff are in your home providing care that members of your household practice social distancing. If possible we ask all members of your household to stay in a different room of the house while Spectrum staff are present.
