Pamela is our October Employee of the Month!
Meet Pamela, Seniors for Seniors' October Employee of the Month.
Pamela was chosen as our Employee of the Month because of her care and dedication to her clients. She always makes sure that her clients feel cared for.
1. How did you hear about Seniors for Seniors and why did you decide to join the company?
I heard of Seniors for Seniors through Indeed. I decided to join because I wanted to work with seniors. I have the right skills, and I would make a difference in someone's life. But most importantly it is the blessings of being a senior companion. It is more than a job - it is the understanding of Mother Teresa's words of serving God through people.
2. What is your favourite companion/caregiver experience or story?
I have two favourite stories. The most recent one was very funny. I forgot my glasses at my client's home one night and I went to work the next day. My client was wearing a nice new pair of glasses and she was saying, "oh Pam come here and see my new glasses." So I said, "those are some spiffy looking glasses. Wait a minute, those are my glasses!"
My second favourite experience was when my client had a recent cataract eye surgery. She had to wear a transparent eye protector but was unwilling to wear it and kept fiddling with it. We had to be vigilant that she didn't remove it. The second day after her surgery, during my shift, she was wearing the eye protector over her ear, she said it is more comfortable there!
3. How has Seniors for Seniors benefited your clients?
The employees are happy working with Senior for Seniors and the supervisors listen to issues, and have solutions. As a result, staff performance standards are better which allows us to serve our clients better.
4. How has being Seniors for Seniors caregiver enriched your life?
It is enriching to hear a client say, "thank you, that was a very good shower. I feel refreshed. God Bless you, you take good care of me." Taking care of others allows me to feel I am enriched in my own life.
