Candy recently shared her experience being a senior companion:

1. How did you hear about Seniors for Seniors and why did you decide to join the company?

Happily I came to work for Seniors for Seniors after my husband and I retired. My husband started working here first. He enjoyed it so much that he enouraged me to join.

2. What is your favourite companion/caregiver experience or story?

I have so many great experiences as a companion. Always a favourite is when a client sees me and their face lights up. Especially during COVID-19 when the elderly have infrequent access to visitors and activities outside their long-term care homes. Currently my client says, "brilliant, how lovely of you to come during such precarious times."

3. How has Seniors for Seniors benefited your clients?

My clients seem to cheer up and are so appreciative of the companionship, a drive to an appointment, or a chat. I always focus the conversation on their life and ask them for small tidbits of advice. This makes them feel included and valued.

4. How has being a Seniors for Seniors caregiver enriched your life?

After my retirement, this adventure of helping seniors has given me a lot of joy. I am able to keep active, I learn from my elders and I laugh a lot. Joining Seniors for Seniors is one of the best decisions I have ever made.
