From fitness boot camps to guest speakers from Achieve Health and the Alzheimer's Society, this year's Health and Safety Awareness Conferences proved that conferences aren't just about seminars and workshops, they are also about having loads of fun!

The Toronto Health and Safety Conference was held on April 24th at Spectrum Health Care's newly inaugurated Centre of Excellence and featured mini workshops from the Alzheimer's Society, Ceridian, The TRH Group and the Insurance Bureau of Canada. To keep attendees energized mini yoga and boot camp sessions ran at various points in the day and the Toronto office's resident certified walking instructor, Patricia Sbrocchi, demonstrated the benefits of proper walking posture. Throughout the conference attendees were invited to receive a complimentary massage from a Registered Massage Therapist and many lucky employees walked away with some great prizes, including the grand prize, a weekend getaway at the Old Mill which was won by S. Gurung.

Mississauga's Health and Safety Conference, held on April 26 at the Centre for Health and Innovation, was also a great success showcasing workshop speakers from CAA, The TRH Group, and Achieve Health. Spectrum Health Care employees, Kathryn Sbrocchi and Anna Szarama shared their knowledge of fitness to fellow colleagues demonstrating various exercises that staff could do at home, while Karen Harte whipped up some delicious and healthy smoothies for attendees. Attendees also enjoyed complimentary massages and a number of great giveaways which included a smoothie maker, gift cards and a one night stay at the Old Mill.

Thank you to all the SHC staff involved in planning these great events, if you missed them this year not to worry next year's conferences are already in the works!
