Spectrum in the News: proud partner of ED One Team
Sunnybrook’s ED One Team has been featured on CBC News Toronto this morning.
Spectrum Health Care is a proud founding member of this team. The ED One Team is working across the healthcare system to develop solutions to “hallway medicine” and help seniors avoid hospital stay.
The ED One Team launched in Toronto in late October and is already showing positive impact. According to figures provided by hospital officials, there’s been a reported five per cent drop in admissions.
The integrated team helps patients who come to the emergency room avoid being admitted to the hospital by ensuring there are adequate supports available either in their home or community. That’s where Spectrum Health Care comes in. We are one of the home care agencies who provide home care to patients to help them avoid a hospital stay.
Dr. Aikta Verma, the hospital's chief of emergency services, said that she is proud of the team and their ability to "reduce the number of patients who are in hallways in our emergency department, as well as the number of patients who are stuck in the waiting room.”
