Spectrum Health Care offers free home care to Toronto senior
Toronto resident Norma Marshall (94) was the victim of a terrible crime.
Four years ago Norma hired Verna Nunes to help her clean her home and prepare meals. In early 2014 Nunes and her family moved themselves into Norma’s home. They gave away all of Norma’s furniture and forced the elderly woman into a smaller bedroom where she spent most of her time in solitude. Alongside taking over her home, Nunes and her husband stole $25,000 from Norma’s life savings. Earlier this month Verna and her husband were arrested and charged with fraud and being unlawful in a dwelling.
To help Norma as she gets back on her feet, Spectrum Health Care has offered to provide free home care services. At the request of Norma we are currently providing companionship and homemaking services through our Seniors for Seniors division. We will continue to work with Norma to assess and deliver home care services that suit her required needs as she recovers from this tragic event.
