Missed the Spectrum Health Care Foundation launch party?
Missed the foundation launch party?
If you missed last week’s foundation launch party, here are some of the highlights:
We celebrated the charitable status of our foundation: Spectrum Health Care Foundation will now serve as the hub for all philanthropic projects and programs that Spectrum Health Care and our other divisions (Seniors for Seniors, Spectrum Patient Services and Spectrum Event Medical Services) choose to participate in. With our new foundation, gift giving contributions from employees will now go through the foundation and be managed by a Board of Directors who will ensure that your donations are spent appropriately by the organizations we partner with.
We announced our new gift giving project: Many of you are aware that for the past 8 years our major community giving project has been Xalibe. The Xalible project has focused on providing healthcare, education and clean water to the people of a remote village in Guatemala. Over the years your contributions have helped provide health care education, clean water supplies and most recently built a hospital which serves 25,000 villagers across 28 rural communities! With the launch of our foundation we realized that our commitment to giving back means not only giving to those abroad but also to the communities here at home. This is why we have chosen to move on from Xalibe and embark on a new and exciting partnership with Engage in Change and their Project Winter Survival program which is dedicated to providing the homeless and less fortunate with Survival Kits. These kits provide warmth and essential supplies needed for survival on the streets during the winter season. Stay tuned for more information about Project Winter Survival and how you can get involved.
We highlighted our Spirit of Spectrum Award nominees: 51 employees were nominated by their fellow colleagues for the Spirit of Spectrum Award, which recognizes and honours the meaningful contributions of Spectrum Health Care employees for their acts of caring and compassion that go above and beyond the call of duty.
