Everyday Heroes: Ramratie “Cassandra” Singh
Being a personal support worker requires resiliency and compassion. When one makes the decision to work with patients in their homes, they are choosing a path that is both challenging and incredibly rewarding.
At Spectrum, our health care professionals administer exceptional care to our patients every day. COVID-19 has presented many challenges but every day our PSWs, nurses and senior companions continue to provide care to people when and where they need it the most.

Meet Cassandra
Cassandra certainly fits the bill of being an Everyday Hero. Cassandra is a PSW providing care out of our Spectrum Health Care York branch. A client recently wrote a letter recognizing Cassandra’s efforts in caring for his mother who is blind and living with dementia. He commented that Cassandra works incredibly well with the patient, always making her feel like she is family.
Cassandra cares deeply for her patient and she provides care from her heart. Her patient feels her warmth as she prepares her meals and assists her with bathing and dressing. The patient’s family feels blessed to have someone with so much love and compassion taking care of their mother. The patient feels comfortable and special under Cassandra’s attention and care.
The family values Cassandra’s professionalism and experience. Even though it can be difficult caring for a person who is sight impaired – she makes it look effortless and easy. She is patient and takes the time to share tips with the patient’s family. Cassandra uses her expertise to make suggestions about proper diet and exercise for the patient.
The patient’s family appreciates Cassandra for all that she does to care for their mother in her home, where they all want her to be.
