Maria Patafi is our Seniors for Seniors’s Employee of the Month for September!

Maria, who has been a Seniors for Seniors' Senior Companion since July, 2016, was chosen because of her dedication to her clients. She goes above and beyond her job description. Her clients feel she has become a friend and they look forward to her visits!

We asked Maria about her experience working at Seniors for Seniors. Here is what she has to say:

1. How did you hear about Seniors for Seniors and why did you decide to join the company?

My friend told me about Seniors for Seniors. I was looking for employment and she suggested that I apply.

2. What is your favorite companion/caregiver experience or story?

One of my clients is a 103 years young woman who I’ve learned a lot about Ottawa from. She shares with me stories about Ottawa and her amazing life experiences.

3. How has Seniors for Seniors benefited your clients?

Seniors for Seniors benefits our clients through companionship, help with meal preparations, assistance with medications, etc. This type of care is important as a lot of seniors are alone. Their family members must work and can’t provide the companionship and attention that they need. We are able to help during the day and evenings.

4. How has being a Senior Companion enriched your life?

Being a caregiver has enriched my life in many ways. Having clients who are always happy to see me and knowing that I’m helping them make their life a little easier and happier makes me feel good.
