Meet Catherine, Seniors for Seniors March Employee of the Month.

Catherine Garrett was chosen because she is a very caring and compassionate caregiver. We get lots of great feedback from clients on Catherine’s care. She always goes above and beyond for her clients. Catherine is a great asset to Seniors for Senior.

We asked Catherine a few questions about working as a senior companion:

1. How did you hear about Seniors for Seniors and why did you decide to join the company?

I heard about Seniors for Seniors from a friend in London. She knew I was searching for a rewarding job, and thought being a companion to the elderly may be something I'd enjoy. She was right!

2. What is your favorite companion/caregiver experience or story?

I'm a writer so I must admit I love listening to my clients' stories. I find people often see an elderly person and forget how much life these people have lived. Stories they share about their past brings me joy - and lights them up. I think that's what I love most, when they talk about their past experiences their eyes shine.

3. How has Seniors for Seniors benefited your clients?

I think you'd have to ask my clients how I benefit them. Lol. My hope is that I give them something to look forward to every day. Sometimes we just talk and have a coffee or tea, while other times we go for a walk, or even do exercises a doctor has given them to do, which also benefits me. I pick up groceries, or run errands that they need done. I even pick up fast food. But I've quickly become friends with my clients and who doesn't need more friends!

4. How has being a Seniors for Seniors caregiver enriched your life?

Honestly I love it. I wish I could do it more often though. In a world where a virus keeps me behind closed doors, these people give me something to look forward to. They listen to my stories too. They want to know what I'm up to, even if it's not too much right now. And like I said, they're my friends now.
