October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Do you know these facts about breast cancer?

Breast Cancer 101. Short list of facts: - 1 in 9 women in Canada are expected to develop breast cancer in their lifetime. - 26% of cancers diagnosed are breast cancer in Canadian women. - 51% of breast cancers will be diagnosed in woman aged 50 to 69. - Since 1987 the mortality rate of breast cancer has decreased by 44%. The good news is that fewer Canadian women are dying from breast cancer today than in the past. Breast cancer deaths have decreased by 44 percent since its peak in 1987. This is largely due to earlier detection with mammography screening, advances in screening technology and improved medical treatments.

Let us raise awareness about breast cancer in the month of October.
