Foot Care Nurse, Casual

The nursing professional (RPN/RN) works within the community, providing foot care for clients in their homes and facilities. The Foot Care professional provides education and care with an emphasis on achieving optimal foot health for the client.


  • Provide assessment, care and advice for clients;
  • Care includes clipping nails, treating corns, calluses, ingrown nails and thickened nails;
  • Suggest and implement preventative care plans;
  • Collaborate with and refer to other health care professionals if required;
  • Complete accurate documentation concerning client condition
  • Educate client and family to achieve and maintain optimal foot health
  • Other duties as assigned


  • In good standing with the college of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Advanced Foot Care, and/or diabetic course/certificate preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years' foot care experience in the community or facility setting
  • Must be comfortable working independently in the community
  • A "G" level driver’s licence and a good working vehicle is required. Willingness to travel within the community to service clients
  • Previous community home care experience preferred
  • Ensures that nursing care provided to the client accurately reflects appropriate nursing interventions based on current and best practices
  • Knowledge of conditions affecting foot health, including diabetes;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, compassion and diplomacy
  • Above average computer skills (Microsoft applications, Procura Health Solutions)
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector Report & Driver's Abstract will be required
