Visiting Nurse (RN) for Palliative Care

Spectrum Health Care is a fully accredited provider of home health care services dedicated to exceptional services, quality and professional development. We are currently looking for Palliative Visiting Nurses (RN) for the Toronto area.

Responsibilities

Adheres to the safe work/risk management policies and procedures of Spectrum Health Care.
•Works within Spectrum Health Care's Ethical Practice Framework.
•Demonstrates behaviours in all interactions with Patients, Health Care Partners, colleagues, management staff and the public that is consistent with the Values of Spectrum Health Care.
•The Nurse is responsible for providing patient focused, safe, holistic nursing care and functions interdependently with members of the disciplinary team to facilitate the multiple needs and goals of the patient family and significant others.
•Performs Controlled Acts assigned to Nursing under the Regulated Health Professions Act.
•Takes appropriate action in situations where the safety and well-being of the Patient may be compromised.
•Ensures that nursing care provided to the Patient accurately reflects appropriate nursing interventions based on current and best practices.
•Ensures that all Patient documentation meets the standards, guidelines, policies and procedures of Spectrum Health Care and the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
•Carries out his/her clinical and administrative responsibilities demonstrating principles of efficiency and cost effectiveness.
•Assumes other related duties as assigned by the Program Manager.

Experience

•Minimum of two years experience, community nursing preferred.
•Palliative background required
•Experience with IVs, pain pumps, mental health, palliative care and wound care is an asset.

Qualifications

•Currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
•Proficiency in English, both verbal and written required.
•Valid Ontario driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
•Excellent Patient assessment and teaching skills.
•Demonstrates problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
•Possesses the physical ability to perform the day-to-day duties described in the duties and responsibilities.

Compensation

Commensurate with experience.
