Statistics show that one in nine Canadian women are expected to develop breast cancer in their lifetime (Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation).

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Canada. The campaign aims to raise awareness on the symptoms and treatment of breast cancer and encourage women to take action for their health. There are many precautions you can follow to reduce the risk of breast cancer. Some of these actions include:

- Staying active

- Keeping a healthy weight

- Quitting smoking

- Reducing alcohol intake

Aside from taking care of your health and wellness, a key step towards reducing your risk is getting checked on a regular basis.
