Spectrum Health Care Foundation: Update

Posted on: August 08 2019 / Category: Spectrum News

Spectrum Health Care Foundation is a national registered charity that was created by Spectrum to support the people and communities we serve. We had the pleasure of partnering with five organizations across the GTA so far this year. Continue reading to find out what our foundation has been doing in 2019:

Rose of Sharon

Rose of Sharon provides counselling and classroom resources to teenage mothers/soon-to-be mothers in the Newmarket area. This May, our foundation had the pleasure of helping with their annual Mother's Day celebration luncheon. We chopped fruits and vegetables and helped prepare the trays of food that were served at the luncheon.

Peel Children's Centre

PCC was able to use our donation to help children and youth who need mental health support. Our donation was used to cover transportation costs for the youth and their families who would otherwise have no financial means to get to their counselling sessions.

Lumacare hosts their annual Elder Abuse Awareness Walk every year on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (June 15). This year our foundation was the title sponsor. We had members of our Spectrum team there to represent our divisions and had our Spectrum Patient Services truck there as well.

This April, SickKids held their 6th annual Angels Catwalk for SickKids. The fashion show raised funds for transplant research, education and innovation, and awareness for organ and tissue donation. As a sponsor of the event, members of our Spectrum staff were invited to attend the fashion show which featured some of the hottest fashion to walk across the runway.

Camp Kawartha

Camp Kawartha is a charitable organization that has been in operation for 98 years. Their programs aim to provide children, from all walks of life, the opportunity to get out of the city to explore and learn. They want every child to feel valued, empowered and believe that they can make a difference. Our foundation sponsored two children to enrol in the camp and experience the great outdoors.
