National Nursing Week is an opportunity to recognize and appreciate nurses for their hard work and dedication to improving the lives and health of Canadians.

We value the contributions that all of our nurses at Spectrum Health Care make and thank each of them for their ongoing commitment and dedication to client centred care.

In honour of National Nursing Week, we would like to recognize one of our outstanding nurses, Marion Harris, who was awarded the 2015 Marilyn Lundy Hospice Palliative Care Community Nursing Award. This award is given annually to a nurse in Ontario who has demonstrated excellence in knowledge and skills in palliative care nursing and has been a role model for his or her peers.

By receiving this award, Marion has been recognized by all for her hard work and significant contributions to community palliative care nursing. She has been acknowledged as a dedicated palliative care nurse who manages the complex and unique needs of her clients in a way that makes each of them feel special and important. Other nurses who have had the privilege of working with Marion have described her as a devoted mentor and compassionate caregiver.

We believe Marion is a wonderful representation of the many outstanding nurses that work for our organization and across Canada. Each of our nurses bring a variety of skills and experience to the job as well as a passion for caring for others. This week, as Canada shows their appreciation for nurses during National Nursing Week, we would like to send a special thank you to all the wonderful nurses who are the backbone of our health care system across Canada.
